Summer Nails

For me, there is a difference between painting my nails in summer, and painting them in winter. (In other words during the school year.) During the summer, I have time to change my nail polish everyday, painting my nails a color that matches what I am wearing. During the winter on the other hand, I usually just paint my nails one color, and then the polish stays on for a week or two before I bother to take it off. During the summer then, is the time for me to try new designs and colors. There is one problem, though. I can't draw designs onto my nails with my left hand. So, I use this really cool trick to make nail stickers:

Grab a Ziploc bag, and cut off the half that is just clear. Next, cut off the zipper part.

Paint ten oval shapes with your nail polish that are about the same size as your nails. It doesn't have to be perfect. Make sure you polish is on reasonably thick. It can't be too thin, or it won't come off the plastic when it dries.

Paint your design onto the ovals.

Wait at least three hours, then peal the nail polish off the plastic. I like to make the stickers, then let them sit overnight to use the next day. Or, you can make a few sets of stickers, and just have them. The only thing that will happen if you keep them for a while, is eventually, the stickers will fall off the plastic. This doesn't effect their value as stickers, though.

When you want to use your stickers, paint a coat of either base coat nail polish, or clear nail polish, or the same color nail polish as the base coat of your stickers. Then, while the polish is still wet, peal the sticker off the plastic, and place it on your nail. Wait for the base coat on your nail to dry, then take a pair of scissors or nail clippers. and cut off any access.

If your sticker is just too big, put the sticker on your bare nail, mark the right size on the sticker, then cut it so it fits right. You can then proceed as usual.

Enjoy!
